About
Dr. Heidary Dr. Heidary is the Chief of Pediatric Anesthesia at Lankenau
Hospital in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. He is a Diplomat
of the American Board of Anesthesiology and has a subspecialty
in Pediatric & Neonatal Anesthesia and Intensive Care.
In addition, Dr. Heidary is a certified
acupuncturist and runs an acupuncture clinic at Lankenau
Hospital. As an anesthesiologist, he first grew interested
in acupuncture in 1973 to find alternative ways to
manage and treat pain in his patients. Skeptical at
first, his colleagues called him "Dr. Voodoo" because
acupuncture was still viewed as mysterious and unconventional
at the time. Nonetheless, Dr. Heidary learned acupuncture
techniques from a Taiwanese acupuncturist and anesthesiologist,
and was fascinated by the endless treatment
possibilities of acupuncture.
Ten years later, after the death of his father from emphysema,
Dr. Heidary began to treat smoking addictions and developed
his own technique to help people quit smoking. Since then,
most of his acupuncture patients have come from all around
the United States to stop smoking, and have achieved outstanding
results. Dr. Heidary's smoking treatments have also been
the subject of several television
stories and print articles in the Philadelphia
area.
